In the series Circa, I am drawing timelines of invention. Inventions that are useful, or seem useful, or are enjoyable, or delicious.
Circa is a beautiful word. Authoritative yet imprecise at the same time. Sometimes it is difficult to figure out when a thing has come into being. Sometimes the slow degrees in which objects blossom into usefulness can make its origins difficult to pinpoint. Ideas are lost and found, or lost and reformed somewhere else. A lot of history has not been recorded. And yet it is satisfying to look at a timeline, to see the surety and order.
