Artist Lisa Murch has been working for the past three months on a site-specific installation in Projects Gallery’s stairwell and lower level. Entitled “Wormhole” this immersive environment utilizes unexpected materials to craft a surreal and naturalistic world that envelops the viewer. As one enters and begins their journey, they take in clouds constructed from discarded eggshells, ants formed by nuts and pods that scurry past, and eyes that watch from hidden places. As the viewer descends into the increasingly claustrophobic environment they suddenly emerge in an open, white, and serene room. In this space plant life floats above the floor, lines are sharply delineated on leaves, and the infrastructure exposes the delicate web of living things.

Lisa Murch was recently awarded a purchase prize at Art of the State from the State Museum in Harrisburg. Opening reception will be First Friday October 2nd, from 6-9 PM.
